What is The Zola Diet?

The Zola Diet is a revolutionary way to lose weight. Why do some people get fat no matter how hard they try to maintain?  Why do some people stay skinny no matter how much they eat?

When you are fat you wonder “Why ME?  Why couldn’t I be born with a metabolism that works?”  For you, and me, and people like us, this video is an eye opener.  My eyes opened so wide I started to cry while I watched this video.  I had to watch it a second time to believe what I was seeing and hearing.  All my life I had either been told, (or people intimated) that I was lazy, I ate too much, I didn’t care about how I looked, I didn’t exercise enough, and more.  This video dispelled all of that garbage and gave me the truth.  Clear truth.  You have to see this.

The guy speaking doesn’t have any connection to The Zola Diet.  He’s a science writer.  His name is Gary Taubes and he wrote a book called Good Calories, Bad Calories.  He was hired by the publisher to find out the truth about obesity.  Why people get fat.  Why fat people can’t get rid of their fat once they have it.  And why the fat person just seems to get fatter, no matter how hard they try to get it off.

This is not a commercial for The Zola Diet either.  I just thought you deserve to know the truth about why people get fat.  This science dovetails with how The Zola Diet works to help you get to a healthy weight, once and for all.  You’ll come to find out that the audience is doctors.  Gary Taubes is trying to show doctors, the people we go to for advice, how people get fat and that the advice they’ve been giving us for years is a bunch of hooey.  Go walk more.   Eat less.  Of course we’ve tried that!  Gary Taubes tells them they have been giving out useless advice.  He’s on our side.  He’s telling these doctors that we are not lazy.  We are not eating too much.  He’s teaching them how the human body works even though they were the ones who went to medical school.  They never learned the truth, although the answers have been around for decades. No one paid attention.  That part made me really mad!

What unlocks the fat that I’ve never been able to get to before?

There are two parts of this diet that you’ve never, likely heard of.  One is the plan for you to be able to keep weight off.  This is supposed to be the last diet you’ll ever need.  A cure for obesity; not just another diet.  We call it our ZReboot phase and you’ll find out more about that in the Phases Explained section.

The other thing that I’ve never seen in any other diet (and as you know, I’ve done tons of them) is a homeopathic remedy that helps your body burn the fat. (And no, this isn’t some silly pill you buy from the back of a magazine.  Read on).

Research was done in the 1950’s to discover that there are really three kinds of fat.

  • Structural fat. That’s the stuff that covers your bones. Without that fat it would be hard to walk. You’d be walking on bone. This is also the fat that keeps your organs from bouncing into each other. Structural fat just sort of makes you whole.
  • The second kind of fat he called Normal fat. Look at it this way. If you go on a cruise and eat the midnight buffet every day for a week, or if you pig out from Thanksgiving to Christmas, you are going to gain normal fat. This is the 10 pounds that many go up and down throughout a year.  This is the easy stuff to get rid of.
  • Abnormal fat is the third kind. This is the kind that truly overweight people struggle with. What happens is when you diet to extremes, or diet too often, your body starts to work against you. Whenever you eat the least bit too much your body will decide to sock that extra away and it puts it in places where dieting won’t get at it. Reason is your body doesn’t want to be hungry. Your body feels threatened. You’ve trained it to be afraid that you’ll go on another diet again and make it suffer. So, when you go on yet another diet, the body will lose weight in this order:  it will lose water weight first. Then it will eat the normal fat. Interestingly, next it goes after the muscle tissue and even the structural fat. The abnormal fat will be the last to go, and by then you are so weak and depleted that your health is in danger. Most folks can’t wait that long. They stop the diet, and with good reason. Have you ever been on an extreme diet that you did long enough that people started to tell you that you didn’t look healthy anymore?  I had one guy tell me I had formed a “marathoner face.” A face that tells people you’ve gone too far. You’re almost a grey color and it’s not pretty. It might feel good to be skinny at that point, but you are not healthy.

So in order to unlock the abnormal fat and get it burning you need special help. A Doctor’s Observations on The Zola Diet

We did a direct price comparison for the most popular diet options on the market.  We calculated an apples-to-apples analysis of what it takes to lose 30 pounds.  How long do they say it takes to lose 30 pounds?  How much is the registration fee?  How much does the food cost?  Add that all up and here’s what you get:

You can look at diets in at least three different ways:

If you have tried a lot of diets, you may be able to relate to this:  After New Years, countless people go on Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating Plan (or another diet) for two months . . . every year. Are there some people who can’t be on this diet?

This diet can be adapted to just about anyone.

We’ve had diabetics on this diet.

We’ve had people who had gastric bypass or lap bands and who gained back too much weight.

Different ethnicities are not a problem.

If you are vegetarian we are working toward a diet for you.  Coming soon.

If you have religious tenants that dictate your diet we can try to work with you, but we don’t have, for example, a Kosher version of the diet yet.

We have had old and young participate in the diet.  We are geared up to accept full-grown teenagers and people in their advancing years.  We can accept most folks who are healthy enough to go on a diet.  That determination is made between the client and his or her physician. We do not want you to think we are a substitute for your regular physician.

People on this diet might be trying to lose the last 10 pounds of “cottage cheese”  or “pregnancy fat” that they just can’t seem to drop, all the way on up to people who need to lose over 150 pounds.

What are the Zola Diet Phases?

There are four phases to the diet. We call them:

  • ZBinge
  • ZReduction
  • ZReboot
  • ZLife

ZBinge is the beginning of the diet and is two days long.  During these two days you eat as much as you can.  You eat all the fun, bad stuff!  Ice cream, fried foods, pizza, whipped cream, desserts galore, breads, pastas, anything you can think of.

How many diets do you go on that start with a binge?  It’s easy. It’s fun and it’s a very satisfying way to begin.

Reason we have to do a binge period is we want you to have to readymade fat that your body can draw off of while you begin the diet.  Don’t worry if you gain a few pounds during this period. They drop right off.  And they drop off FAST.

ZReduction is your next phase.  How long this phase takes depends on how much you have to lose.  If you have at least 26 pounds to lose this phase will last 40 days.  If you have 25 pounds or less, this phase lasts 26 days.

During ZReduction you get to eat fresh food and wonderful meals.  We have recipes on our website and full instructions on the items you get to eat.  You’ll have all the autonomy you need.  You can follow our recipes or go your own way. We have recipes to cover you if you need to take meals to work.  If you go to restaurants during ZReduction you’ll be able to order from the menu without much adjustment. Restaurants are doing a very good job of accommodating The Zola Diet.

You’ll basically eat two full meals a day and if you need it, one small one besides that.  You’ll be taking your homeopathic remedy at the same time, so you won’t feel deprived.  Your hunger, if any, will be very manageable.

What do I get to eat while on the Zola Diet?

The food on this diet is truly amazing.  Unlike any diet you’ve ever seen.

  • On the most restrictive portion of the diet you get to eat things like:
  • Italian breaded chicken with warm, chunky tomato sauce
  • Wasabi-ginger crusted mahi mahi with baby bok choy
  • Beef Tenderloin with mustard-shallot sauce and spinach-stuffed tomatoes….

Sounds more like a nice restaurant menu doesn’t it?  Great thing is almost everything on The Zola Diet can be prepared in 20 minutes or less.

You also get to eat things like:

You can eat French, Italian, Indian, Mexican, American, Asian food.  You like it. The “diet industry” and the “food industry” are indistinguishable. Food processors have purchased the big diet brands:

Heinz owns Weight Watchers

Kraft owns South Beach and Boca (soy based meat alternatives)

Nestle owns Stouffer’s Lean Cuisine and Power Bars

General Mills owns Fiber One

ConAgra owns Healthy Choice

Kellogs owns Kashi (Go Lean)

Unilever owns Slim-Fast and Ben & Jerry’s (ironic?)

The biggest food processors are also the largest purveyors of sugar, starch, soy, sodium, and corn syrup. And their diet food is highly processed and filled with the refined carbohydrates that made you fat in the first place.

As Zola is fond of saying, “Lean Cuisine, my fat butt.”

By being on diets that failed you in the long run, you have proven to yourself that calorie restricted, low fat diets aren’t the answer for you. You need to understand that the carbohydrate wallop of a 190 calorie Lean Cuisine Macaroni and Cheese entrée is 45 grams of carbohydrates. It hits your system and triggers an immediate insulin response.  That kind of diet food doesn’t help you lose weight over the long run.  It’s short-lived at best.

How am I going to keep the weight off after I lose it?

One of the truly, most amazing parts of this diet is the resetting of your metabolism.

As the founding dieter, I went from being able to eat approximately 1000 calories a day to being able to eat 2500 per day.  No weight gain.

All you have to do is follow the instructions for the third phase of the diet, which we call ZReboot.  It’s not difficult.  Your metabolism can be set in as short as 3 weeks.  The third phase of the diet lasts six weeks to make sure you are set for your new life of eating healthy without having to be so hyper-conscious of what number of calories you’ll be eating.  Don’t worry. You’ll have very few restrictions during this period. You’ll be amazed by the flexibility in what you can eat.

I have never found a diet that gives you the tools, suggestions and direction on how to keep the weight off.  Every other diet “failed me” in this arena.

This one is likely the last diet you will ever need.  That determination will be up to you and your eating behavior after the diet is over, but you will have been handed an opportunity like never before to be able to eat like everyone else at the table and NOT be the one who goes to bed dreading the bathroom scale the next morning.

There are no clinics.  This diet is completely self-administered in the privacy of your own home.  We send you the materials to get you started and guide you along.  You decide what day you start and how strict you are going to be.  We will be there to coach you if you like coaching.  We give you a forum where you can interact with other dieters as much or as little as you want.  We give you a place where you can ask questions of the consulting physician, Dr. Paul Branch.  You can contact Zola directly with questions or suggestions.

There are no weigh-ins. No “diet police”.  You can keep a diary of your weight loss progress as you choose.  We give you full autonomy for choosing what you want to eat each meal on the diet.  We give you the parameters and you decide if you want to follow them.  For full effect of the diet, we of course, suggest you don’t waiver from the parameters but if you cheat no one is going to chew you out.
